It’s been raining for weeks now, and one of the hazards of eating locally is the weather. While our greens and cucumbers are lovely – the poor fruit! Today I bought Phillips cherries and half of them were split. It’s not anyone’s fault – just the rain is drowning the trees and the fruit gets all swollen! I’ll eat through these and wait for drier and hotter days, safe in the knowledge that later on the season the fruit will be juicy AND flavorful!
No strawberries at Yunno’s or Maxwells today – just at Phillips and some of the other larger growers.
Today was a bread and egg run at market. Wednesday I’ll stock up on veg!
